Kurtis John Dupras

MARQUETTE, MI – Kurtis John Dupras, age 59, born June 21, 1961, lost his life to cancer on June 7, 2021.

Kurtis had been living in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and came back home to spend his final days listening to the sounds of the Laughing Whitefish River and the songs of the birds bringing in summer.

He is survived by two children, Allysa Dupras and Alexes Dupras and a grandson, Guy. Other survivors include nine siblings, Susan Woods, Sandy (Brendon) Biolo, Roberta Krueger, Jim Dupras, Joe (Lynn) Dupras, Jackie Johnson, Patty Lou (Andy) Zimmerly, Anita (Bob) Oakland, Pamela (Fred) Ivers; many nieces and nephews.

Kurtis was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche, and father, Bob; two brothers, Johnny and Jefforey; and a sister, Mary Lynn.

Kurtis had a profound love for the outdoors. He loved enjoying weekends with his nephew, Mike, where they would spend their time fishing and four wheeling in the woods. Kurt had a love for digging up old treasurers, there wasn’t a safe bottle or old pearl button with him around. The beaches were always calling his name, he had many hours walking them, gathering rocks with his beloved dog, Lady Bird.

The youngest child out of a family of 13, Kurtis will be deeply missed.

A special thank you to our beautiful nurse, Juli, from Northwoods who came by every day to see him, and to his brother-in-law, Fred, who spent days by his side making sure that his dream of spending his last days in the woods would come true.

Honoring Kurtis’s request, burial will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery.
