James P. Malvasio

MARQUETTE, MI – James P. Malvasio, age 59, of Marquette, entered eternal life Monday, June 7, 2021, at home.

Born November 18, 1961, in Marquette, a son of Richard and Nancy Malvasio, Jim was raised in Marquette and graduated in 1980 from Marquette Senior High School. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving for four years with a tour of duty in Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, Jim returned to Marquette and began a lifelong career in residential and commercial painting and roofing. He possessed a strong work ethic and was a hard worker at whatever he was doing. He was a loyal friend, both kind and generous with his time and talent. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone in need. From his youth, he loved the great outdoors and all that nature had to offer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing on the Chocolay River, and hunting for mushrooms. Jim loved to cook and BBQ for family and friends, often using the produce of his big gardens and the mushrooms he collected in his menus. The things that mattered most in his life were his family whom he deeply loved and his faith in Jesus Christ. He not only had faith but lived it by showing his concern for others.

Jim is survived by his mother, Nancy Malvasio of Missouri; his twin brother, Joel Malvasio of California; his sister, Traci (Elfego) Peralta of Missouri; niece and nephew, Darcie Bolin of Missouri and Nicholas Rangel of Missouri; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his grandparents, George and Claire Malvasio and George and Agnes Gregorich.
