John (Jack) D. Maki
MARQUETTE, MI – John (Jack) D. Maki, 78, of Marquette, born to Glenn and Anna Mae (Kallio) Maki, passed away May 20th, at his home in Iron Mt., after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jack graduated from Graveraet HS in 1960, before joining the navy. After returning home, he attended Northern MI University, where he met Marcia, the love of his life. Jack spent 25 years in management before leaving to pursue a career in home building, which afforded him more time for his real passion of hunting and fishing; capping his hunting career with a trophy New Zealand red stag two years ago.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marcia (Perkins) of 57 years, two sons; Steven Maki (Patti) of Wyoming, MI, his three children: Rebecca, Stephanie, Chris, and five grandchildren, and Eric Maki (Chalise) of Viola, WI and their two children: Makayla and Davin, four siblings: Anne Fyant, Wes (Gail) Maki, Dianne (Ray) Hamming, and Pearl (Lowell) Larson, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Jack was Preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings: Floyd, Verdine, and Patty.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, and will be announced by the family.
