Eve M. Hager

Eve was born on May 25, 1959, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Magnus and Eve (Andrews) Aske and grew up in Morro Bay California, which is where she gained her love of the beach and ocean. She graduated from Morro Bay High School. She continued her education at Cuesta College where she received her Associate’s Degree in computer science. She also attended Cal Poly and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in business management at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.

Eve was a talented woman who succeeded at her many diverse professional endeavors. When she met her husband, Eric in Wyoming, she was employed in the parts room of a Cummins Diesel shop and was very proud that she always kept up with the boys. She then transitioned into a full-time homemaker to take care of her children, Justin and Joslyn. As they started school, she worked as a tutor at the high school in Norway, MI. Throughout her time in Wyoming and Michigan, she worked as a photographer, capturing weddings and many beautiful landscapes. After moving to Florida, she became a realtor and found great success and enjoyment. Starting in the 1980s and continuing through her move back to the UP, she worked as a florist at many shops and as a sole proprietor. Eve attended Silver Creek Church and was a member of the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts.

In her spare time, Eve enjoyed many artistic endeavors. She made stained glass, painted anything that didn’t move (and some that did-mainly herself), was a prolific photographer (our last count of digital photos was over 75,000), and made a lot of pottery (her Yooper mugs are a favorite). She weaved baskets and made jewelry, loved doing interior design and her own renovations, and did many tiling jobs. Eve was an extremely talented artist who was exceptionally humble and didn’t fully understand how much her work was loved. Eve also loved to travel, especially to anywhere with a beach. She was a diver and a skier.

Survivng are her loving husband of 37 years, Eric Hager of Marquette, MI; her son, Justin (Elizabeth) of Farley, IA; her daughter, Joslyn (Scott) of Iowa City, IA; a brother-in-law, Bill (Kathy) Hager of Ishpeming; a sister-in-law, Sallie (Ron) Ditsch of Warroad, MN; nieces and nephews: Beth and Paul Schloegel of Marquette, Will Hager of Negaunee, Laura and Jeff Winston of Hawaii, Michelle and Terry Park of Negaunee, Ken and Annie Wygant of Morehead, MN, and Emory Nighswonger of Iowa City, IA; her grand-nieces and nephews: Lauren, Kaitlin, Casper, Aleana, Courtney, Abi, Tyler, Alexis, Paige, Daniel, Nathan, Harper, and Havana. Eve was greatly loved and was a second mom to many family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Maria; godparents, Teddy and Joy Ewalt, and her chosen sister, Terri.

She leaves behind many wonderful friends spread throughout the United States and the world. Eve was a wonderful, positive influence and left a lasting impression on everyone she met, even if just for a short time.

In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, private family services will be held at Koskey Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Taylor of Silver Creek Church officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held during the summer at the Hager family camp on James Lake in Iron County.
