Dennis David “Denny” Korpi

ISHPEMING, MI – Dennis David “Denny” Korpi, age 47, Ishpeming resident, passed away of natural causes on Friday, January 29, 2021, at UP Health System Marquette, where he had been a patient for 1 week.

Denny was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, on November 30, 1973, a son of Cecelia “Cece” Marie (Bunce) Korpi and the late Dennis Roger Korpi.

Denny graduated from Ishpeming High School class of 1992, being a member of the National Honor Society. He received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Michigan Tech University. He had worked for Ojibwa Casino, also Gadzinski Accounting and Sarasin Accounting practices in Ishpeming.

Denny enjoyed all aspects of life. He loved fishing, camping, music, disc golf, and poker nights with friends. Denny played with the Ojibwa Softball Team for 15 years. He was an All Star Little League player, award winning high school wrestler, and an accomplished cribbage player, playing for over 20 years in various local leagues. He was an avid hockey and football fan including fantasy football.

Friends will recall his generous spirit, wonderful sense of humor, intelligence, and his love of family, friends, and animals. He had several cats throughout his adult life and enjoyed the endless entertainment they provided. The Salisbury Crew is heartbroken to have lost their leader.

Denny is survived by his mother; Cecelia “Cece” Korpi, 2 brothers; Duane and Craig (Jen Godfrey) Korpi, a sister; Kristi Korpi all of Ishpeming, 3 nephews; Dylan Korpi, Brayden Martin, and Jayce Korpi, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; Dennis Korpi.

Due to current COVID-19 restriction, services for Denny will be held at a later date.
