RIVERVIEW, MI – Carole Joan (Krieg) Short, 83, formerly of Marquette, passed away, February 18, 2021. Born December 9, 1937, in Marquette, a daughter of Earl and Geraldine (LaBonte) Krieg, Carole was raised in Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1955. From her youth, she exhibited artistic qualities and following graduation, continued her education in art, receiving her Degree in Illustration from Layton School of Art and Design in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1963. She then accepted a position as an illustrator with the American Greeting Card Company. In 1964, Carole served as an interim art director for WLUC Television. She worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designed for many years, including working at Graphic-Comm Studios. She draped the Marquette area with her beautiful, creative art on business logos brochures, and displays. Her most prized piece “U.P. Thru the Ages”, was donated to the Peter White Public Library and is on display there. Carole was a talented artist who loved to doodle pictures and letters to her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Carole is survived by her three children, Geraldine Short, Krieg (Susanne) Short, and Shawn Short; three grandchildren; her brothers, Dean (Mary) Krieg and Tom (Carolyn) Krieg; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Geraldine Krieg; a son, Shane (Joette) Short; a brother, Gerald (Jenny) Krieg; and sister, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Krieg.

Honoring Carole’s request, no services will be scheduled. Interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.
