Woman dies in pickup truck accident

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — A Menominee woman died in an accident on Sunday in Wausaukee, Wisconsin, announced Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

Sauve reported that after daylight on Sunday, a crashed pickup truck was discovered off U.S. 141 near Kaiko Road.

An investigation revealed that sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning, the vehicle went off the road to the west, struck a driveway embankment and then traveled a distance before impacting a stump and then a tree.

The wreckage was cold, indicating the accident happened much earlier.

Inside the wreckage was a deceased female, who later was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marinette County assistant medical examiner. The victim later was identified as Hope E. Tyler, 52, of Menominee.

The cause and factors in the accident still are under investigation by the sheriff’s office and medical examiner.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens, the Wausaukee Fire Department and Wausaukee Rescue Squad.

The incident marked the first traffic fatality in Marinette County this year.
