Carrie Scott Peters

MUNISING, MI – Carrie Scott Peters, age 52, of Munising, died at her home under the loving care of her family on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

She was born on April 29, 1968, in Miami, Florida, to Dr. Gary and Karen (Lemley) Scott. Carrie grew up in Miami and graduated from Killian High School in 1986. Her family returned to her mother’s hometown of Munising and Carrie attended Northern Michigan University. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in December of 1992. Carrie worked as an RN at Marquette General Hospital, Munising Memorial Hospital, and North Woods Home Health and Hospice. She married Willy Peters on October 21, 2000 and together they lovingly raised their two children, Landon and Logan. She was so proud of her children and enjoyed supporting them with Munising athletics, academics, and dance. Carrie loved to dress up in her Mustang gear and cheer on the kids, and for many years she enjoyed dance recitals and competitions with Logan. Carrie fiercely loved her family. She had an especially close bond with her Mom, and sisters Connie and Betsy. Growing up in Florida, she had a special place in her heart for manatees and flamingos. Carrie’s true “happiest place on earth” was Disney World. She beamed with excitement whenever she visited, whether it was growing up with her family, traveling as an adult with her sisters, or sharing her love of the place with Willy, Landon, and Logan. She loved weeklong birthday celebrations, bling, sparkles, purses, and the color pink, but she also loved long time-honored traditions that surrounded holidays and birthdays, spending time at the beach, celebrating the 4th of July and Christmas, planning photo shoots, the green of the leaves as they changed in the springtime, and rainy days just before dusk. Her favorite days of the year were the last day of school track meet with the kids and the spring dance recital.

Carrie is survived by her husband – Willy Peters of Munising; their son – Landon Scott Peters and their daughter – Logan Lynn Peters both of Munising; her mother – Karen Scott of Munising; sisters – Connie (Troy) Nelson of Munising and Betsy (Paul) Dagenais of Escanaba; mother-in-law – Helen Peters of Munising; nieces and nephews – Lauren, Connor, and Jack Nelson, Paige, Megan, Jordan, Kyle, and Lindsey Dagenais, Michael and Charli Lynn Peters, Bryce and Jodi Peters, Beau, Anthony, and Emily Hillier, and Gracie and Kailey Prosek; aunt – Margaret Gosselin of Munising; cousins – Michele (Mike) Albright, Kristi (Steve) Dausey, and Glenn Davis of Munising; brothers and sisters-in-law – Lisa Peters of Munising, Debi (Mike) Prosek of Pulaski, WI, and Mark (Kim) Peters of Gladstone.
