Jason L. Des Parois

MARQUETTE, MI – Jason Lee Des Parois, loving son, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at age 44.

Jason was born on June 7, 1976, in Trenton, Michigan, to Larry and Julie (Paquette) Des Parois. He grew up in Marquette, Michigan where he graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1994. He attended Northern Michigan University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Jason worked at the National Rifle Association in Fairfax, Virginia from 2001 – 2004 as the Director of Marketing for the Western United States, where he traveled the country, selling memberships at gun and knife shows. After that he returned to Michigan and lived in the Grand Rapids area working in sales. He returned to Marquette in 2005 and worked at various companies, most recently, Superior Contact. Jason had a passion for politics which he used to run for state representative. He was an avid member and Vice President of College Republicans at NMU. Jason loved playing bridge, playing video and computer games with his nephew and best friend: AJ, collecting baseball cards, and was generous to a fault, spoiling everyone he knew. He loved to make people happy with his creative gifts and endless generosity. He was a life-long Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers fan. Jason was a volunteer fire fighter at Chocolay Township. He spent the last few years of his life as a volunteer for Dialysis Patient Centers where he advocated on behalf of dialysis patients to various members of Congress and their staff on issues such as health insurance coverage and patient choices. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind, compassionate, and giving spirit.

Jason was preceded in death by his aunt: Michele Lajeunesse, his uncle: Paul Paquette.

He is survived by his mother and father: Julie and Larry Des Parois, his brother: Andrew Des Parois and his wife: Kara Des Parois, his nieces: Alexis and Kaitlyn Des Parois, and nephew: AJ Des Parois, his sister: Valerie Chase and her husband: Spencer Chase and their four boys: Hunter, Brody, Tucker and Crew Chase.

Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey on Wednesday, December 2, beginning at 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Theoret, pastor, as celebrant. Due to COVID restrictions, masks and social distancing are required.
