Timothy (Tim) Patrick Acocks

GULF SHORES, AL – Timothy (Tim) Patrick Acocks, Sr. (72) entered eternal life on Sunday November 8th, 2020 unexpectedly while vacationing for the winter in Gulf Shores, AL.

Tim was born on March 17th, 1948 in Marquette, MI. He was the son of Dr. James and Hebe Jane Acocks. He was raised with four brothers, him being the youngest brother. Tim loved being active and went on to qualify for the Junior Nationals in 1961 for skiing. Tim also won NASTAR Ski Tournament for the 40 and older age group in 1991. During high school, he lettered all 4 years in track & field and football. Tim graduated from Roosevelt Military Academy, class of 1967. Following graduation, Tim served in the United States Army from 1967-1970, during the Vietnam War. After getting out of the service, he married to the love of his life, Patricia Marie Ives (Acocks) on December 16th, 1972, a date he remembered most fondly. They would be celebrating 48 years of marriage next month. Tim became a boilermaker in the Local 169 Union from 1973 and retired in 2003. After retiring, he loved to spend most of his time out at their camp on Cooks Lake in Munising, MI. He loved being out at camp with family and friends during the summertime, especially.

He is survived by his wife Patricia M. Acocks, his two sons Brett Peterson and Timothy Patrick Acocks Jr., his three brothers Jim Acocks, John Acocks, and Mike Acocks, and his six grandchildren Hailey Peterson, Carter Peterson, Drew Peterson, Taylen Acocks, Jordan Smith, and Jamas Gustafson.

His parents Dr. James and Hybe Jane Acocks predecease him. He said what life has meant to him; having a wonderful wife, sons, and grandchildren. His message to his family and friends is “all my love to all of you”. Tim or what most referred to him as (Mito) would arrive at several gathering by saying, “Mito’s back in town!” Well Mito, we all look forward to the day we hear that again along with your little dance that went with this announcement.

A celebration of his life will take place later during the upcoming summer on Saturday July 24th, 2021 at his favorite place, their camp.
