Russell ‘Poick’ Carriere

CHATHAM, IL – Russell “Poick” Carriere died at 4:14 am, Monday, November 23, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born November 19, 1933, in Ishpeming, MI, to Fred and Louise (Verville) Carriere. He married Gloria Jean Carrier on October 24, 1964 and she survives.

Also surviving are three children, Russell Mark (Christina) Carriere of Dayton, NV, Scott Alan Carriere of Muskegon Heights, MI, and Rebecca “Becky” (Dale) Logerquist of Chatham; ten grandchildren, Samantha, Gracie, Russell, Cloie Jean, Stephanie, Dan, Madison, Taylor, Rudie, and Thomas; four great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eleven siblings, Johnny, Mary, Agnes “Titi”, Shirley, Rosemary “Bell”, Albert “Bert”, Clifford “Babe”, Pete, Wilfred, Dorothy, and Joseph; and one great- grandchild.

Russell was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was known to most people as “Poick” or “Uncle Poick”. He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his children and grandchildren, and he will be deeply missed.

Funeral Mass: 12 pm, Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Dominic Vahling officiating.

A graveside service will be held at the Champion Cemetery (Sacred Heart) in the Spring 2021 with the date and time to be announced by the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home of Ishpeming.
