Barbara Trombly

GWINN, MI – Barbara E. Trombly, 90, of Gwinn, died peacefully Saturday morning, November 7, 2020, at Mill Creek Assisted Living Facility while under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.

She was born May 27, 1930, in Ishpeming, the only child of Arthur and Fanny (Voegtline) Nylander. She was a 1948 graduate of Gwinn High School.

Barbara married Alden J. Trombly, Jr. in Gwinn on September 30, 1950 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2011.

She retired from the Gwinn Community Schools as a member of the kitchen staff and taught piano lessons from her home for many years. She was a longtime member of Gwinn United Methodist Church and served as their organist for 76 years.

Barbara especially enjoyed summers at her camp on Farmer’s Lake. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and always looked forward to her yearly winter visit with her daughter and son-in-law in Hawaii.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Barry) Fukunaga of Honolulu, HI, Richard (Deborah) Trombly of Mesa, AZ and Betty (Dan) Negrinelli of Gwinn; grandchildren, Gina Trombly of Haslett, MI and Joseph (Christy) Negrinelli of Harvey; great-granddaughter, Emma Negrinelli; and special sisters-in-law Shirley (Thorval) Hansen of Gwinn and Sharon Couture of Gwinn.

A memorial service for Barbara is tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2021 and will be announced.
