Pamela Ann Alanen

AUSTIN, TX – Pamela Ann Alanen, age 62, of Austin, Texas, entered eternal life on Monday, October 5, 2020, in the care of her good friends.

Born August 28, 1958, in Marquette, Michigan, a daughter of Elmer and Evelyn Martha (Jacobson) Alanen, Pam was raised in Harvey and graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1976. After high school, Pam went on to bartend at the Idle Time Bar in Skandia, and also traveled downstate to become a licensed ferrier. In 1980, she said her goodbyes to the U.P. and moved to Austin, Texas, where she pursued her love for animals by training races horses in Maynor Downs. Pam had grown up with horses since she was 14 as well as various other pets. Later on, Pam went on to drive for Laidlaw Bus where she became a trainer and then went on to be a supervisor for Capital Metro. After she retired she spent most of her free time at home with her pets. Good friends like Laura and Cowboy would always stop over to spend time with her and were there for her until the end.

Survivors include her siblings, Brian Scott (Tammie) Alanen of Harvey, Jeffrey Lee (Jil Jenkins) Alanen of Halfway Location, and Janice Marie (Ken) Barnett of Gwinn; her nieces, Sabrina (Charles) Henson, Ann Marie Alanen, and Emily Barnett; her nephews, Nicholas (Lindsey) Alanen, Dustin Barnett, and Devin (Kelly Ray) Barnett; her great- nephews, Oliver, Emery, and Wendell; an aunt and uncle; and her be- loved canine pal, Dixie.
