Heinz E. Gentz

HOMOSASSA, FL – Heinz E. Gentz, died Monday, March 23, 2020, in Homosassa, FL, at the home of his son, Mike, in the comfort of his family. He married the former Marilyn Gutzman in 1949 and was married for 70 years.

He was born in 1928, in Marquette, MI, to Earnest & Louise, on the Gentz homestead. He worked at General Motors in Flint before returning to Marquette to take over the family dairy farm. A farmer at heart he worked tirelessly no matter what he was doing. He moved on from farming to home builder, developer, to sodding and landscaping and finally trucking. Always on the go he helped his sons build their businesses. Never afraid to tackle any job, there was nothing he could not theorize, design and build. A competitor with all he did he had only one speed, wide open, at work and at play. Boating, waterskiing, racing cars and snowmobiling, he enjoyed all the things he did in life. He was a mentor to many, respected and loved by friends and family, he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Gloria Patient and Margaret Flannigan.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Chris Campbell, Randy (Cathy) Gentz and Mike Gentz; grandchildren, Charlie (Vicky), Tony (Kristi), Jessica (Nate) Peterson, Andy and Jacob (Allyssa); great-grandchildren, Connor, Callie, Gia, Aiden, Landen and Lincoln.

There will be a celebration of Heinz’s life at the Gentz’s Homestead at 353 Gentz Rd, on October 18th 2020, starting at 1:00 p.m.
