MARQUETTE / MUNISING, MI – Charlotte Lorraine Wapienik, age 93, of Marquette went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 14, 2020. Charlotte was at home in the loving hands of her husband, Yosh, and their three loving daughters.

She was born August 29, 1927 in Munising, Michigan to Harry “Chub” Burrows and Marion (Bowerman) Burrows. Charlotte graduated from William G. Mather High School in 1945. She married her longtime friend John “Yosh” Wapienik in 1946 and cared for him up until four weeks ago when she became ill. She was an artist at the Munising Wood Products then a clerk and Assistant Bookkeeper at the Munising Red Owl for many year. She was a member of the Lady Foresters and also a Brownie Troop Leader. She played piano, loved to knit, read and write poems.

She even wrote and illustrated a Christmas book all about her grandchildren. Her husband, daughters and grandchildren were the focus of her life.

As soon as her daughters were walking, they started yearly family vacations in Wisconsin Dells.Their yearly vacations continued with their daughter’s spouses and grandchildren until she was 85 years old.

She was well known for her beautiful summer tans. Her dedication, pride and love was the purist.

She is survived by her husband, Yosh, of nearly 74 years and three daughters, Jonnie (Tom) True of Negaunee, JoDee (Bill) Larsh and Tassi Hodgins of Marquette. Grandchildren John (Wendy) True, Rhonda (Rick) Williams, Justin True (Samantha Anderson), Ryan (Monica) Raica, Nathan Larsh, Josh Hodgins (Ashley Miller) and Charlotte Hodgins (her namesake). Step-grandchildren Jeff (Erin) Larsh. Great-grandchildren Sydney, Kolton, Kenadie and Hailo “Lolo” Hodgins, Shayla Williams, Mary Marie True and Valentina Raica. Step-great grandchildren Kelsey, Kylie & Morgan Miller, Lilie Miller, Phelan and Silas Larsh. Her first step-great-great grandchild Baby McKenna is due in April. Sister-in-Law Alice Wapienik and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Chester, sisters Norma and Lois, niece Cindy Gauthier, brothers-in-law Edge and Vodge and Sister-in-Law Elsie.

At her request, there will be no visitation. Her burial will be Monday, October 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising and prayers will be led by Elaine Robbins. er grandchildren will escort her to her final resting place. A Christian Mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request what Charlotte would have wanted. Hug your loved one and always tell them you love them. As Charlotte would say, “I did my best and God did the rest”.
