William Kunick

MARQUETTE, MI – William J. “Bill” Kunick, age 71, of Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, August 8, 2020, at UP Health System – Marquette.

Born August 25, 1948, in Baraga, a son of Albert and Florence (Sipe) Kunick, Bill later moved with his family to Marquette where he graduated from Marquette Senior High School. He was drafted into the US Army, serving his country during Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, Bill returned to Marquette where he married the former Margie DePetro on November 25, 1969. Bill began his working career at Star Industries Manufacturing and Industrial Supply and then was employed with the City of Marquette Board of Light and Power as an electrician. In his leisure, Bill enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his two children, William (Krissy) Kunick, Jr., of Baraga and Kimberly (Michael) Myers of Marquette; five grandchildren, Ella Kunick of Baraga, Courtney (Polo) Velasquez of Gwinn, Jessica Ely of Marquette, Marshall Myers of Marquette, and Derek Dault of Baraga; his sister, Barbara Anderson of L’Anse; and brothers, Ronald (Louise) Kunick of Marquette, Lloyd (Linda) Kunick of Nisula; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; a sister, Mildred Maki; and brothers, Albert Kunick and Gerald Kunick.

Entombment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, where services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, at noon. Rev. Don Ludemann will officiate. Masks and social distancing are required.
