Fural Ghiringhelli

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Bingo! Fural won the big pot! Fural Ghiringhelli, formerly of Negaunee passed away on August 4, 2020, in Traverse City, MI, where she had been a resident since July, 2017.

She was born on April 24, 1925, in Gwinn, to Frank and Amelia Suardini and was one of 13 children. All of her siblings had gone on before her. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church.

Fural married her first boyfriend, Louie, and they were married for 70 years.

He preceded her in death in August 2018. Together they enjoyed hunting partridge, going on picnics, entertaining guests in their home and playing cribbage. They played every day for a quarter a game and a quarter a “skunk” and with the colorful language that ensued, you would have thought the stakes were much higher!

Another of Fural’s favorite pastimes was playing bingo. She would ride the bus from Negaunee to Baraga to play and when she moved to Traverse City she looked forward to playing there. Her bingo friends held a special place in her heart.

Fural worked in the kitchen for the Negaunee Public Schools and treated that kitchen like her own. She took pride in the meals that were produced and had a keen interest in the students that were served.

Fural is survived by two children, son; Louis (Nancy) of Elk Rapids and daughter; Kathy (Marvin) Stone of Statesville, North Carolina. She has two grandchildren; Sarah Niederprueum (Sean) and Josh (Lindsey), and three great-grandchildren; Chloe, Sydney, and Brady. Her extended family was extensive with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her Negaunee neighbors, and Rita Perrault and Ray Dobson for their help in allowing her to remain in her home for as long as she could before her move. Also, neice; Rita and sister-in- law; Rita always made sure to include her and Louie in holiday celebrations. Our heartfelt thanks for your kindness.

Fural was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding people. If you’d like to remember her, please make a donation to your local food pantry.
