Clarence Snell

KERNERSVILLE, NC – Clarence J Snell, age 80, died unexpectedly in his home in Kernersville, NC on Friday, June 19.

CJ was born in Marquette, MI to Albena and John Snell on March 1, 1940.

He graduated from Graveraet High School in 1958, enlisted in the Navy and had an Honorable Discharge. In 1965, he graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He continued his education in 1979 and received the Credential of Advanced Studies in Health Services Administration from the University of Minnesota. He attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration in 1982.

CJ was employed in healthcare for the majority of his life. He started his career in Wisconsin and then moved to Muskegon, MI being employed by Mercy Hospital. He then relocated to Woodruff, WI where he was President/CEO of the Howard Young Medical Center.

In the mid-80’s he specialized in cardiology administration opening Heart Hospitals in several states, including Iowa, South Dakota, Tennessee, Arkansas and North Carolina.

He loved music and made a hobby of collecting 45 rpm’s. Later in life he made a handsome profit on his collection, and received many calls inquiring if he was still selling. He followed several rockabilly artists and while living in Tennessee and Arkansas he attended every concert he possibly could. He also collected old bobble heads which caught many an eye.

He was an avid University of Michigan fan as well as Detroit Tiger and Lion fan. GO BLUE/TIGER BALL He had just recently attended a week of spring training games in Florida with his son, daughter, and their families.

In addition to his parents, CJ was preceded in death by his brother, two sisters, and a grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children Timothy Snell (Rae Ann), Terri Young (Mike), all residing in Florida. Grandchild include: TJ Snell (Danielle), Tyler Snell (Mariah), and Bailey Corona (Gary). He also has several great- grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
