Janice (Pietro) Knudsen Wick

Janice was born on Octoer 7, 1935 in Ishpeming, MI to Esther (Laver and Paul J. Pietro. Janice’s mother passed away when she was only a toddler. She then lived with her maternal grandmother (Gram Laver) until her father married Lois (Sis) Betts. Janice graduated from Ishpeming High School and worked at various jobs in the Ishpeming area.

She married Donald Knudsen on August 6, 1956 and together they had 3 sons. The family lived in Ishpeming, MI until 1975 when they moved to Bovey, MN. After the death of her husband, Donald, Janice married Sam Wick in 1998.

Janice worked at Grand Village Nursing home for several years. She loved shoes, purses, clothes, and jewelry. She was an active Volunteer at Grand Village Nursing Home, a member of the Grand Rapids swimming at the YMCA, VFW Auxiliary, Zion Lutheran Church, and sang with the Second Wind Harmonica musical group. She especially enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time at the Wick Family Cabin; fishing and four-wheeling.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-mother, husbands Donald Knudsen, and Sam Wick; three sons: Donald, Paul, and Steven, Sister, Suzanne (Paul) Coron, Brother, Paul Pietro, and son-in-law: Paul (Lisa) Wick, brother-in-laws: William (Mare) Knudsen and John (Carol) Knudsen.

She is survived by her sister, Zoe (Dudlley) Nelson, Sister-in-law, Jeanette Pietro, Daughter-in-law Kathy (Terry) Madsen, son-in-law Keith Wick. Granddaughters-in-law Jennifer Wick and Heidi (Josh) Sanders, special cousin, Richard (Tom) Carne, and several nieces, nephews, and great granddaughters.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held in Ishpeming at a later date.
