Lois May Johnson

Lois Johnson

MARQUETTE, MI – Lois May Johnson, age 87, of Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Snowberry Heights in Marquette.

Born December 27, 1932, in Marquette, a daughter of Nickolas and Josephine (McLaughlin) December, Lois was raised in Marquette and graduated from Bishop Baraga High School. Following graduation, Lois was employed at various jobs including working at Donckers, the local dime store, with her favorite employment being Michigan Bell Telephone as a telephone operator. On September 15, 1958, Lois was united in marriage to Donald Johnson at St. Rita Catholic Church in Trenary. Together, the couple made their home in Marquette where they raised their family. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to cook, and always made sure Don had the best lunches at work. However, when the grandchildren began arriving, life became even sweeter. She spoiled the grandchildren and great-grandchildren with treats; her chocolate chip cookies being among the best. She was always available to lend a helping hand, support, and unconditional love to her children and grandkids. Throughout the years, Lois and Don enjoyed collecting antiques, keeping a beautiful home and yard, and spending quality time with their children and grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her children, Nicki (Suzanne) Johnson and Laurie (Pedro) Flynn both of Marquette, and Amy (Scott) Morrison of Gwinn; her grandchildren, Dan Flynn and Angie Flynn of Marquette, Sarah (Mike) Evans of Alexandria, VA, Michael Morrison of Chicago, IL; great-grandsons, Jaxon and Leo of Marquette; brothers-in-law, Gordon (June) Johnson of Marquette, Paul (Virgil) Johnson of Flint, and Bud Ouellette of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Violet Fezzey of Oceanside CA; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Michael Sherman; her sister, Eleanor (Art) Erickson; in-laws, Margaret (Henry) Lemire, Lawrence (Emma) Johnson, Frances Johnson, Gert Johnson, Theresa (Eugene) Rodriguez, Keith (Mary Ann) Johnson, Grace Ouellette, Donald Fezzey, and Carl (Agnes) Moore.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Jean, the staff and residents of Snowberry Heights, for the friendships and many kindnesses extended to Lois and her family.

Private family services and burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
