Alan John Mantyla

ISHPEMING, MI – Alan John Mantyla, age 55, lifelong Ishpeming resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of his family and hospital staff.

Alan was born in Ishpeming on August 13, 1964 son of the late Lawrence and Laina (Johnson) Mantyla.

Alan was a former member of the Michigan National Guard and previously worked at Robbins Flooring Mill. He loved hunting and being in the woods. Alan will always be remembered for his quick wit and incredible sense of humor. He was a very family oriented man always checking up on everybody and spending time with them as often as he could. He loved his family. Alan was always fixing things and keeping busy working on projects. He loved listening to country music and enjoying a cold beer.

Alan is survived by his 2 children-Rachel Mantyla and Shane Marietti; 5 grandchildren-Skyler Mantyla, Zachary, Abby, and Oakleigh Marietti, Ethan France, and was expecting his 6ththis November; long-time companion Lois Hill; 4 siblings-Nancy (John) O’Neill, Sharon (Edwin) Villeneuve, Gregory (Mary) Mantyla, Susan (Ronald) Reynolds; sister-in-law Beverly Mantyla; nieces-Stephanie (Dario) Hernandez, Jennie Scott, Amy Villeneuve-Jenkins, Jocelyn Atkinson, Pamela Thorne, Jacqueline Solomon and Andrea Reynolds; nephews-Cory Eman, William Eman Jr., and Zachary Mantyla. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Mantyla.

A gathering of family and friends will take place to celebrate Alan’s life at the Al Quaal recreation area in Ishpeming on Sunday June 21, 2020 from 1-4pm.
