Margaret Ann Jeanson
MARQUETTE, MI – Margaret Ann Jeanson, age 82, of Marquette, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Mill Creek Assisted Living, in the loving, comforting care of her family, dear personal friend, and caregivers at Mill Creek.
Born August 5, 1937, in Marquette, a daughter of Armas and Josephine (Niemi) Ranta, Margaret was raised in Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School. She married Karl Gerald Peterson and, following his passing, married Perry Edward Jeanson in 1989.
While raising her family, Margaret was a stay-at-home mom and very active with her daughter Jan’s music activities and son Bill’s sporting activities and events.
When the children were older, she was employed with the Marquette Area Public Schools for several years in the central office and then served as the building secretary to the principal at the Vandenboom School, where she retired. Margaret had a warm, comforting, and affectionate nature to her that was uncanny in attracting people to engage a conversation or share an intimate story with her. She was truly a people person that everyone felt peaceful with her in their company.
Margaret is survived by her son, Bill (Carol) Peterson of Harrison Township; step-son, Mike (Lindsey) Poulos of Georgia; step-grandchildren, Nathan and Megan; cousins, Frank and Julia Frei of Marquette. Margaret was blessed to have a very dear and special friend, Vicki Laituri of Marquette, who provided care, support, and friendship.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Peterson Wells.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Mill Creek and UP Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate, professional care, and for the many kindnesses they extended to the family.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
