Matt A. Kitto

ISHPEMING, MI – Matt A. Kitto, age 78, longtime Ishpeming area resident, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.

Matt was born in Marquette on May 5, 1941, son of the late Elsie (Erkkila) and Matt Kitto. Matt was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School. He served in the United States Army from 1962 – 1965. Matt worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for 33 years retiring as an Electrician from the Tilden Mine in 2001. Matt was a retired member of the United Steelworkers of America and current member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. Matt was a devoted family man, he truly loved playing and teaching the game of Tennis along with time spent hunting.

Matt is survived by a son Joshua M. Kitto of Marquette; two daughters – Cassandra Kitto of Palmer and Lisa Storti-Mongiat of Marquette; 2 grandchildren – Josh Kitto and Hannah (Mark) Mongiat-Merring, nieces and nephews – Mike Kitto, Joanna Kitto, Jenny Bureau, Brian and Bryn Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bronwyn Kitto in 2017, son Todd Storti and brother Michael Kitto.

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at Ishpeming Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the UP Army Honors Team.
