Myrl Ina Sicotte
Myrl Ina Sicotte
MARQUETTE, MI – Myrl Ina Sicotte, age 97, of Marquette, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family, under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
Born April 24, 1922, in Marquette, daughter of William and Lauretta Dell (Krieg) Lockhart, Myrl was raised in Marquette. She was VERY PROUD to have been a student at the John D. Pierce School. Myrl and Noble Sicotte were married on June 20, 1942. Throughout the years, Myrl found contentment and enjoyment as a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Family, friends, and church were very important to her. She was a member of the former Marquette Gospel Tabernacle (now Waters Edge). Myrl’s son, Scott, humorously remarked that she never shared the sweets that were intended for church gatherings. Several years ago, when she couldn’t get out to her church, she discovered Jimmy Swaggart Television Ministries and became an active media member. Described by her family as a great mother, avid reader, Myrl was especially interested in local history as well as World War II history, her husband having served in the Philippines. Congressional meetings should not have been called to order without Myrl announcing her name as present. She loved to doodle, sometimes on important papers, and was always extremely aware of both national and local events.
Myrl was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lauretta Lockhart; husband, Noble Sicotte; sons-in-law, Jim Schutz and John Johnston; brothers, Stanley and Irwin Eakett; sisters, Phyllis (Buck) Merindorf and Anne (Leonard) Borg.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Earl Kleven) Schutz of Calumet and Bonnie Johnston of Marquette; her FAVORITE son, Scott (Marlene, who she loved as her daughter) Sicotte of Marquette; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren; her sister, Audrey (the late Carlo) Wahtera of Marquette; numerous nieces and nephews.
Another opportunity to celebrate Mom’s life, will be held this summer and will be announced.
