SOUTHERN ALPERI, NC – Robert William Alperi, 82, of Southern Pines, NC passed away peacefully on December 30, 2019, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Bob was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on January 4, 1937, to the late William and Gertrude Alperi.
He graduated from Michigan Technical University in Houghton, Michigan and earned his Master’s Degree from Rensselaer Polytech Institute. Robert went on to earn his Doctorate Degree from the University of Connecticut. Robert worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and taught at the University of New Hampshire. Robert also worked at the Bettis Powerplant in Pittsburgh, PA before retirement. He was avid golfer, gardener, and a true family man. Robert discovered cooking after retirement, loved to travel, tell jokes and make people smile.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Alperi; sons, Michael Alperi (wife Julie) of Fairfax VA; David Alperi (Jerelyn) of Boca Raton, FL, Steven Alperi (wife Amy) of Davidson, NC; daughter Marie Alperi (Jeff Parke) of Lakewood Ranch, FL; sister Gloria Walden of Ishpeming, MI; grandchildren Samantha Schubert, Greg, Anna, Nathaniel, Daniel, Christina, and Peter Alperi.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 3:00PM, at Belle Meade Chapel in Southern Pines, with Archie Stevens officiating.
