Lea Dora Niemisto
GWINN, MI – Lea Dora Niemisto, 89, of Gwinn, died peacefully Tuesday morning, January 14, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming while under the care of Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.
She was born November 22, 1930 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Walter and Dora (Hirsch) Kuehn.
Lea married William R. Niemisto in Chicago, IL on August 8, 1952 and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2013.
Lea trained in Germany as a hairdresser. She was employed in Chicago as a hairdresser before moving to the Gwinn area in 1956 where she continued hairdressing.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Marquette County Weavers Association and the Gwinn VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Lea is survived by two children, Deborah (Nan) Niemisto and Denise Stark; grandchildren, Logan and Dana; sister, Eva Marie Meyer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
