BROOKLYN, MI – Kathy Jean Keeping, Our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, sister, wife and friend passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 after a brief illness at 66 years of age. Kathy was born August 12, 1953 to Jim and Jerry Suits in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She attended Wines, Forsythe and Ann Arbor Pioneer High Graduating in 1971. She swam with the Ann Arbor Country Club, Huron Valley Swim Club and the Ann Arbor Swim Club, where she was a champion in the state. She attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan and she graduated with a degree in Education. She ran her own daycare and then taught at Towsley’s Pre-school and for the Ann Arbor Public Schools before becoming the science teacher at Emerson School where she taught until she retired.

Kathy is survived by her son’s Martin James McDonald (Gina Perez), Scott Siler and his special friend Samantha Sayers and Daniel Siler. Also surviving is her husband Al Keeping of Saline, her sister Lynn Suits Lamkin (David), her brother Charles (Betsy) Suits and her beloved granddaughter Keira McDonald. She was an athlete, an artist, a musician with a beautiful singing voice and a poet. She had just composed a song produced by Alex Preston called “Sound The Alarm” on YouTube as she became very involved with Climate Science. She also was volunteering with head start in Ypsilanti before she became ill. Kathy was young for her age and had many more frontiers to conquer. She loved her ‘boys’ very much. A celebration of her life will take place in the spring.
