ISHPEMING, MI – Carol Jean Roberts, age 65, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Carol was born to Melvin Lowell and Violet(Ruohomaki) Roberts on July 2, 1954 in Ishpeming.

She attended the National Mine Schools graduating with the class of 1972. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University.

She worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Marquette General Hospital for 34 years retiring in 2012.

Carol was an active member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

In her free time, Carol enjoyed gardening and finding rocks for her rock garden which she always said brought her “peace”. She also enjoyed the outdoors. She enjoyed biking and cross country skiing and talking long walks. Most of all, Carol loved spending time with her family. She had numerous nieces and nephews that she treated as though they were her own children. She was kind to everyone she encountered.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Stepfather, John Lupton; and brothers, Kenneth and Larry Roberts.

Surviving are her sister, Judy Steede of Ishpeming; Sisters in law, Elizabeth Roberts of Ishpeming and Ellen Roberts of Negaunee; Nieces and Nephews; Tina Anderson, Jeff Steede, Jennifer (Joe) Cieslinski, James Roberts, Ralph (Amber) Roberts, and Beth (Peter) Martell; Great nieces and nephews, Alyssa Anderson, Ansley, Hannah, and Caden Cieslinski, Olivia and Blake Roberts, Ethan, Brandt, and Isabella Martell. She is also survived by special loved ones Sarah, Bradley, Samantha, and Christopher. Carol also leaves behind many dear cousins and beloved friends.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Lauri Maki officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service starting at 3:00 PM.
