Ronald ‘Ron’ M. Hughes

Ronald Hughes

ESCANABA, MI – Ronald “Ron” M. Hughes, 60, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 10, 2019 while working in Grand Rapids, MI.

Ron was born at St. Francis Hospital on April 18, 1959. He was the 7th of ten children and grew up in the small town of Gladstone, MI where he spent many hours helping on the family farm. He graduated from Gladstone High School and shortly after he started his 41-year long career as a lineman. Ron took immense pride in his line of work but his heart was truly tied to his family.

He loved watching his grandchildren grow and sharing with anyone who would listen the stories of their accomplishments. He was a dedicated spouse, father and grandfather. During Ron’s life, he spent most of his time either on the farm he and his wife owned, working on projects. He was always working on something rain or shine but always found ways to involve his loved ones. He enjoyed spending time at hunting camp or camping with his wife, friends and horses. He may have been a man of few words but he left us all with a lasting impression of goodness, integrity and love.

Cherishing his memory and love are his wife of 20 years, Corrilyn (Burroughs) Hughes; children, Adam (Sherry) Hughes, Doug Hughes, Amanda (Tony) Miron, Kaitlyn Peterson and Kacie Peterson and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Ileen Hughes; siblings, Sr. Rosalie Hughes SPC, Barb Hughes, Ray (Barb) Hughes, Joe Hughes (Amy Braun), Ileen (Greg) Meyers, Connie (Allen “Zack”) Smith, Larry (Karen) Hughes and Mary Hughes; as well as many special nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry “Hank” C. Hughes in November of 2018; and brother, Patrick Henry Hughes in January of 2019.
