Beverly Stromquist

NEGAUNEE, MI – Beverly Joyce Stromquist, 85, of Negaunee, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2019 at UP Health System in Marquette in the care of her loving family.

Beverly was born May 18, 1934 in Negaunee to Eino and Tyne (Laitinen) Talo and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1952. Following high school, she earned her nursing degree from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Beverly was united in marriage to David Stromquist on August 4, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee and they moved downstate to Orchard Lake where Beverly was employed as a registered nurse at Pontiac General Hospital. Following retirement in the late 1980’s, they moved back to the Stromquist family home in Negaunee.

Mrs. Stromquist was an active and devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and also Big Bay Presbyterian Church while spending summers at the family cabin on Lake Independence. Beverly was warm, generous and uplifting and most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved music and was talented with playing the violin, piano and French horn. She cherished her community of Westacres in Orchard Lake where she raised her family and made lifelong friendships and many special memories.

Surviving are her loving husband David Stromquist; her sons: Allan (Nellie) Stromquist of Sammamish, Washington and Kurt (Michelle) Stromquist of Norway; daughter, Laurie (Bill) Serchak of Milford; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth, Arthur, Katie, Karlie, Kassie, Brandi and Austin; her brother, Maurice (Esther) Talo of Cheyenne, WY; her sister, Mildred (Ted) Balzarini of Marquette; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Terrance ‘Terry’ Talo.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 8th at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon at the church on Tuesday, and also at a luncheon in the church fellowship hall following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Beverly’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
