MARQUETTE, MI – Allan L. Wood, 79, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
Allan was born on May 22, 1940, in Florence, WI, to the late Allen R. and Margaret H. (McCraw) Wood. He graduated from Graveraet High School class of 1958.
After graduation from high school, Allan served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Following his service he attended Northern Michigan University. He worked at the Empire Mine as an electrical engineer until he retired in 1997.
Allan looked forward to being with his friends and morning coffee with the guys in Tony Depetro’s garage.
He enjoyed boating and times spent in Florida. Allan also loved to target shoot with his friends. He was very kind and a very loving person and he would do anything to help anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his former wife, Mary Kay; daughters, Kristy (Patrick Lindow) Sibilsky of Marquette and Connie Mahood of Jackson Hole, WY; grandchildren, Britnie and Dylan Sibilsky; sister, Janice (John O.) Sanregret; his wife, Janet; step-children, Jacqualine Maul of Grand Blanc, MI, Joe (Cyndi) Benson of Gwinn, Jill (Fred) Riddle of Litchfield, MI and Jerry Benson of St. Johns, MI; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Margaret Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the church with recitation of the rosary prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Allan’s name to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
