GWINN, MI – Marlene Ruth Barto, age 78, of Gwinn, entered eternal life on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Trillium Hospice House in the loving care of her family.

A daughter of Chester and Myrtle (Contois) Babcock, Marlene was born in Ishpeming on August 5, 1941. She was raised in Sands Township and was a graduate of Gwinn High School class of 1959. Following graduation from high school she married David Barto and the couple set about establishing a home and raising three children together. Marlene was a loving mother, homemaker whose family meant the world to her. She loved her family and enjoyed making sure everyone was safe and cared for.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Candy) Barto, Sr. of Gwinn, Kim (Bill) Belmore of Marquette and Shawn Barto of Gwinn; her grandchildren, Robert (Ashley) Barto, Jr. of Brighton, Chet (Ashley) Barto, Sr., Rylee Barto, Willy (Keara) Belmore all of Gwinn and Shana Belmore of Marquette; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Desiree, Olivia, Ryder, Chet Jr., and Brinley Barto, Ryleigh Bragenzer, Lilly and Layla Belmore, and Isabelle Hirr; her sisters, Joyce (Walter) Sleeter of Gwinn and Betty (Louie) Nordeen of Gwinn; her brothers, Chester Babcock of Davison, Charles Babcock of Harvey and Larry (Karen) Babcock of Beaver Grove; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; and her granddaughter, Nicole Barto.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Marquette Salvation Army Chapel on Saturday, September 14, 2019, beginning at 3 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. Captain Doug Winters will officiate. A reception will follow.
