Kim Ann Schaefer

She was born October 21, 1961, in Marquette, a daughter of Frederick Schaefer and Patricia (Salani) Schaefer.

She was a 1979 graduate of Marquette Senior High School.

Kim worked for many years at an ambulance company in Lower Michigan. She loved the outdoors, camping, four wheeling, NASCAR races and spending time in Big Bay. She was always up for “a ride through the woods to L’anse.” Although spending these past years in downstate areas, she would still describe herself as a “Yooper Girl”. In death she was an organ donor and we, her family, are appreciative of her wanting to help others. We loved her and along with her friends in both Marquette and Birch Run, MI will miss her.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ann (Kelly Castor) Hytinen of Calumet; parents, Patricia and Michael Black of Marquette; grandchildren, William, Trevor and Michael Just of Calumet; a brother, Dean (Bridget Kascielny) Schaefer of Marquette; and sister Amber (Tim) Pitcher of Mason, MI. She was preceded in death by her father; grandmother, Margaret Schaefer; grandparents, Babe & Dorothy Salani and George & Sabina Black; and special aunt and uncle, Dick and Joan Normand.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019, her birthday, at 2 PM at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with Deacon Gregg St. John officiating.
