Eino M. Kangas

GWINN, MI – Eino M. Kangas, age 94, of Gwinn, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.

Eino was born in Negaunee on June 28,1925, to the late Elmer John and Hilda (Willig) Kangas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Eino worked at the Princeton Mine, Tracey Mine, and Empire Mine. He was a self employed taxidermist and enjoyed trapping and hunting. The DNR would often bring injured deer to him to nurse back to health. Eino was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons; Ronald Kangas of Gwinn and Donald Kangas of Rock, two daughters; Lorraine Kangas of Appleton, WI and Vera (Charles) Kauffman of Dale, WI, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Pearl, granddaughter; Shanda, and ten brothers and sisters; Elsie, John, Arne, Ruth, Uno, Benhard, Martha, Lauri, Onnie and Reino.

Funeral services were held today at Perala Funeral Home with Rev. Bre Kinnunen of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Bakkala Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eastwood Nursing Center, UP Health System Bell, and the Oncology Unit at UP Health System Marquette for their care and compassion.
