Virginia K. Janhunen

CHAMPION, MI – Virginia K. Janhunen, 73, of Champion, MI, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at UP Health System Marquette.

Virginia was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 31, 1946, daughter of the late Taimi (Lappi) and Leonard Johnson. She graduated from high school in Detroit and furthered her education at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. She was a devoted teacher who invested greatly in her students and shared a wealth of knowledge with her own children and grandchildren.

She faithfully served her Lord and Savior by caring and praying for those around her. She often enjoyed hosting Bible study discussions and could be found playing the organ at Champion Apostolic Lutheran Church where she attended.

Virginia is survived by her son Stefan (Hannah) Janhunen, of Waterloo, Ont., Can., son Paul (Delaney) Janhunen, of Kitchener, Ont., Can., daughter Paivi (Tom) Brack, of Moberly, MO, and 7 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Champion Apostolic Lutheran Church in Champion, MI on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at 2:00 PM, with Dave Lappi officiating. Interment will take place at the Champion Cemetery.
