NEGAUNEE, MI – Thomas John Richer, Jr., age 29, of Negaunee, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019, at UP Health System – Marquette, following a lifelong, hard fought struggle with mental illness and depression.
Born May 14, 1990, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Tom was raised in Suamico, Wisconsin, graduating from Bay Port High School in 2008. He attended ITT Tech in Green Bay for a time before moving to Negaunee where he was employed at various jobs. On November 25, 2016, Tom married the former Sarah Lynn Nadeau and together the couple made their home in Negaunee. For the past two years, Tom was employed in asbestos abatement with Carrier Construction and Services in Negaunee. Tom’s hobbies and interests included playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends and anything and everything Star Wars.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sarah of Negaunee; his daughter (the love and light of his life), Sophia Rae Richer, and her mother, Rebecca Cox of Ishpeming; and numerous other family members and close friends that loved him dearly.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandmother, Kathleen Richer and maternal grandfather, William Perron.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Friday, August 30 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
Tom was a Gift of Life donor.
