MARQUETTE, MI – Lloyd M. Helt, 91, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at his home in the loving care of his daughter.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Lloyd’s birthday, October 21, 2019 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Marquette. Time will be announced at a later date.

Lloyd was born to Lloyd and Leona (Marson) Helt on October 21, 1927. He went to school until the age of 16 and it was then he joined the armed services. Lloyd returned to school to graduate from Graveraet High School in 1948. He married Beth Anderson in 1955, three times. They were married for 40 years until the time of Beth’s passing in 1995. Lloyd worked as a Journeyman Machinist at Lakeshore in Marquette for many years before his retirement. He built his home on Grove Street and camp in Deerton. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Lloyd love to fish and hunt and especially loved his fishing trips to Canada to Lake Wabanosh. He was involved in American Legion Post #44 and participated in the U.P. Honor Flight maiden voyage with his niece Deborah Snedeker.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his wife Beth and parents and his sister Mary Louise Beaudette. Lloyd is survived by daughter Rebekah of Marquette, special friend Jeannette Vaughan of 18 years, sister Aurelia Hahka of Negaunee, brother Jack (Sandy) Helt of Barefoot Beach, Florida, grandsons Mathew (Meghann) Helt of Carmel, Indiana and Patrick Robertson of Maple City, Michigan, two great-grandchildren, Declan and Thayer Helt. Lloyd is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special housemate Jacob Schmidt.
