Jean St.Amour

ISHPEMING, MI – Jean Lucille St.Amour of Ishpeming, Michigan passed away on Monday July 22, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Jean was born on July 23, 1926 in Ishpeming, Michigan to the late Gust and Kezia (Bennett) Sandstrom. She was raised in Ishpeming and attended Ishpeming High School. Jean married Alfred St.Amour on March 10, 1944 while Al continued his service in the military. Together they raised three sons after establishing their home in Ishpeming.

Jean was most happy being a homemaker and caring for their sons who were the world to her. Jean also enjoyed years of winter snowmobiling with friends and family at their cottage on Lake Michigamme. In the mid-1970s during retirement, Al and Jean purchased a home in Florida where they wintered for 17 years. Those years in Florida became her memories which she shared with great passion. Jean was a loving wife and mother cherishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also shared stories of her precious poodle, Fifi.

Jean is survived by three sons, Robert “Butch” (Jane) St.Amour of Ishpeming; Terry (Kathryn) St.Amour of Grand Blanc, MI; David (Connie) St.Amour of Sahuarita, AZ; seven grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Perry; Mitchell (fiance Brianne) St.Amour, Michelle St.Amour (husband Will Hathaway); Bradley (Rebecca) St.Amour; Nickolas St.Amour, Dana (Gordon) Jakel; Jessica (Brad) Winchester; 6 great grandchildren: Kira Perry, Tristan Stearns, Chloe Perry, Harper Jakel, Freya Winchester, Toby, Molly and Autumn St.Amour, and Mirabelle St.Amour; 2 step grandchildren: Alana Carrott and Lora Holm; a step great-granddaughter Keira Holm, step great-grandson Mason Holm; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband Al; sisters Virginia Hampton and Donna Lundin; brother Robert Sandstrom; brothers-in-law Norvin Hampton and Charles Lundin; sister-in-law Jean Sandstrom.

Jean’s family will greet relatives and friends from 12:30 pm – 1:00 on Thursday July 25, 2019 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Matthew Osborne officiating.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
