Bruce W. Barker

MARQUETTE, MI – Bruce W. Barker, 83, of Marquette, passed away on June 22, 2019, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Kroncich) Barker; stepson, Gary Maunula and Deedee Scanlon; sister, Valerie Fox; daughter Liz (Robert DeBaker) Folce; and was the very proud Papa to Henry & Chloe Folce; and forever friend, Dave (Carole) Dolch. He was so thankful for the love and support of his Michigan family, Don and Chris St. Aubin, Tony and Susan Kroncich, Dan, Lisa and Danielle Jahnke. Also thankful for his sister-in-law, Loretta Flaherty in North Carolina and Jim and Juls in Texas. Bruce was always happy to see his many nieces and nephews and so proud of Tony Kroncich III.

Bruce was born in Los Angeles, California in 1936, to parents Harvey and Violet Barker. He was a very talented and awarded tennis player, enjoyed fishing, the beach, crossword puzzles, dogs and especially family, friends and meeting new people. Bruce was a successful Auto Sales Manager and always told interesting, funny stories and was a friend to everyone he met. Bruce and Jan met in Lake Tahoe, Nevada in 1986 and married in Michigan in 1998. They lived in many interesting places, including South Carolina, Florida and Palm Springs and enjoyed their many friends, the theater, beach, gourmet food and music. Bruce was a huge fan of Frank Sinatra.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, wonderful son, Stephen and brother-in-law, John Flaherty.

A Memorial Service will be held for Bruce at the chapel in the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans at 425 Fisher Street, Marquette at 3 pm on Friday, July 12, 2019. Refreshments will be served following the service at the Jahnke’s home in Marquette.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful people at Jacobetti. The care and respect they showed Bruce is appreciated. A special thanks to the 2 South staff and members who were so good to him.

Bruce will forever be missed, but remembered for his charm and wit and way of leaving people with a smile.
