Mary Lou (Flaa) Kinsella

ISHPEMING, MI – Mary Lou (Flaa) Kinsella – age 84, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Thursday June 13, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and nursing home staff.

Mary Lou was born in Ishpeming on July 15, 1934, daughter of the late Mario and Irma (Gronvall) Salvador. She attended Ishpeming High School and graduated with the class of 1952. After graduation she worked briefly as a secretary before marrying Jack Flaa in 1954. Following Jack’s death Mary Lou remarried to Bernard Kinsella and moved to Cheyenne, WY where they lived from 1997 until 2014.

Mary Lou was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, as well as the Ascension Lutheran Church in Cheyenne, WY. Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, baking, being a fulltime mother, wife, and homemaker.

Mary Lou is survived by 2 daughters – Kristen (Tom) Beaupre of Duluth, MN and Lauren (Alan) Heikkinen of Ishpeming, 2 grandsons- Chad (Clair) Maki and Ben (Samantha) Maki, 2 great grandchildren- Braylinn Maki, Broden Maki and waiting to welcome one more in July, Rebecca Maki, sister-in-law – Rosie Flaa, 7 step-children – Theresa (Jack) Jurgens, Rose Todd, Kathy (Chris) Bauman, Michael (Gretta) Kinsella, Sandra (Randy) Tucker, Jim (Cindy) Kinsella, Mary Thompson, numerous step grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband – Jack Flaa, second husband – Bernard Kinsella, brother- Frank Salvador, and brother-in-law – William Flaa.

Mary Lou’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Monday June 17, 2019 from 12:00 noon until the time of her Memorial Service at 1:00pm with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
