Lucille Epper

MARQUETTE, MI – Lucille M. Epper, 94, of Marquette, entered eternal life Monday, June 24, 2019, at the Norlite Nursing Center, in the loving, comforting care of friends and Norlite staff.

Born October 2, 1924, in Marquette, a daughter of John and Nellie (Miller) Voce, Lucille was raised in Marquette, graduating in 1944, from the Graveraet High School, and remained a lifelong Marquette resident.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the church choir and altar society, the Home League of the Marquette Salvation Army, and Rebecca Lodge #279 of Marquette.

Lucille enjoyed sewing, craftwork, dancing, and was an avid cribbage player. She was especially active in volunteer work with the Salvation Army and the Marquette Senior Citizen’s Center. She loved cats.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kathy and Danny Pompo, and Paulita Korby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Epper on May 6, 1983; by her sisters, Hazel Jensen and Neva Yelle; and a sister, Nellie Voce who died in infancy; and by brothers, George and Frank Voce.

Friends may call at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Thursday, June 27, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:10 pm with Rev. Greg Heikkala, pastor, as celebrant. A dessert reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
