Jennifer Lazzari

MARQUETTE, MI – Jennifer Edith (Peterson) Lazzari, age 47, of 421 E. Hewitt Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday morning, May 26, 2019, at her home.

Born February 13, 1972, in Marquette, a daughter of Gordon John and Roberta Fern “Bobbi” (Uren) Peterson, Jennifer was raised in Marquette. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School where she served in the band’s color guard. Growing up, Jennifer and her sister, Joann, enjoyed family activities, going to the family farm in Kiva, family camping, traveling with their parents to various masonic youth and adult events. They witnessed their parent’s commitment to the masonic organization and joined in helping with fund raising events, preparing and serving food at banquets, and learned the value of being of service to others, all of which they carried into their adult lives. Following graduation from high school, Jennifer attended Northern Michigan University’s School of Cosmetology and earned her certificate as a licensed cosmetologist. She was employed for a time with Cost Cutters Salon. Throughout the years, Jennifer was employed with American of Marquette, Wal-Mart, and Range Telecommunications. Later, she returned to NMU and enrolled in their nursing program.

As a licensed practical nurse, she was employed first with Marquette General Hospital, then Norlite Nursing Center, and was presently employed at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee. She loved her nursing career and especially enjoyed working alongside the staff at Eastwood and with the residents. With her outgoing personality and quick smile, she made many friends at Eastwood. In her leisure moments, Jennifer enjoyed going to Hotplate with her son, collected angel, squirrel, and chihuahua dog figurines, and as an animal lover, she lovingly cared for her furry critters at home.

Jennifer was a Past Honored Queen of Bethel #16 International Order of Job’s Daughters, member and Past Matron of Presque Isle Chapter #403 Order of the Eastern Star, and member of Daughters of the Nile Nefertiti Temple #10.

A loving mom, daughter, sister, and friend, Jennifer is survived by her son, Nathaniel Patrick “Mr. Nate” Lazzari of Gladstone; her father, Gordy Peterson of Marquette; brother-in-law, John Caldwell, Jr. of Marquette; nephew, Michael Gordon Kopsi of Marquette; aunt, Jane Ann Uren of Harvey; uncle, J. Gordon “Butch” (Kathy) Uren of Harvey; several cousins; extended family and friends, Robin Anthony and son, Brandon Maher, Tony and Georgia Lazzari, and Toivo Mattila; canine pals, Senor Micki and Mr. Nero; feline companions, Oreo, Nilla, Emily, and Martha.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobbi Peterson; sister, Joann Caldwell; grandparents, Albert and Martha Peterson, and Richard and Jeannie Uren.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of the Eastwood Nursing Center who made Jennifer’s career as an LPN so fulfilling and happy.
