James DuMoulin

REPUBLIC, MI – James S. DuMoulin, age 82, of 175 Hemlock St., Republic passed away early on Monday morning January 7, 2019 at his home. He had been in the loving care of his family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

James was born Feb 2, 1936 in Belvidere, IL the son of the late Joseph A. and Aila M. (Tuomi) DuMoulin. He moved to Republic with his family in his infancy and resided there since. Jim served in the United States Navy from Sept 14, 1954 until Sept 12, 1958 mainly aboard the USS Hornet. Jim returned to Republic and worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for 30+ years as a shovel operator at the Humboldt, Republic, Tilden and Empire Mines retiring in 1997. Jim also owned and operated DuMoulin Excavating for many years. He loved visiting with his family and friends at his shop where tinkering was his specialty and was able to fix almost anything. He enjoyed camping and his German Shepherds.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years Wilma E. DuMoulin of Republic, 3 children – Jeffrey (Terri) DuMoulin, Barbara (Daryl) Tammelin and Bryan DuMoulin all of Republic, 3 step-children – James (Elizabeth) Kellow of Darlington, SC, Carla (Anthony) Cvetkovich of Huntsville, AL and Bradley (MaryEllen) Kellow of Bowling Green, OH, grandchildren – Brian, Derrick, Jordan, Kayla, Shawna and Jacob, great grandchildren – Jack, Landen and Abby, step-grandchildren – Stephen, Thomas, Morgan and Adam, step-great grandson Stephen, sisters – Jeannette Collins of Elgin, IL, Jean (Ken) Schroeder of Green Bay, WI, brother John “Jack” DuMoulin, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Martin Korpi and Joseph DuMoulin and 2 sisters Joanne LaFreniere and Jenona Ritchey.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – Noon on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. A Memorial Service will follow at Noon on Friday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Norquist to officiate. Interment will take place in the spring at the Republic Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow the services at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Fellowship Hall in Republic.
