Carolyn M. Rundman

ISHPEMING, MI – Carolyn M. Rundman age 86 longtime Ishpeming resident passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Portage Pointe in Hancock.

Carolyn was born April 7, 1932 in Medford, WI to Albert and Florence (Capelle) Pries. She graduated from Medford High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University in Elementary Education. Carolyn taught for the NICE Community School District at the West Ishpeming, North Lake and Diorite Schools. Carolyn was a joyful person who felt relationships provided meaning to her life. She had compassion for neighbors, friends, family and animals.

Carolyn was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where she was active with WELCA and sang in the Bell Choir. She also sang in the Choraleers singing group. Carolyn was a member of the retired Teachers Association, and former member of the Wawonowin Golf Club. Carolyn enjoyed her daily walks, cross country skiing on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail and cherished the arrival of her grandchildren from Wisconsin for the summer at camp on the Dead River Basin.

Carolyn is survived by 2 children: Donna (Robert) Marlor of Marquette and Eric (Joan) Rundman of Hancock, MI 2 grandchildren: Jeff (Emi) Uelmen and Brian (Rian) Uelmen, 7 great grandchildren: Peyton, Greyson, Gabe, Reed, Brady, Blake and Sloane and former son in law Bill Uelmen.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, daughter Cheryl Uelmen and a sister Betty Glennon.

Carolyn’s family greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday February 16, 2019 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. A luncheon will follow.
