Julia Guthrie

LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP, MI – Julia Anne Guthrie, age 27, of Limestone Township, entered eternal life, Sunday, September 16, 2018, at home, following a lengthy illness.

Born February 13, 1991, in DesMoines, Iowa, a daughter of William and Jean (Freeman) Murrell IV, Julia was raised in DesMoines, Kansas, and South Carolina. She was employed for a time with a boat detailing and fiberglass shop in Wisconsin. For the past six years, Julia battled with chronic kidney disease, the last four years of which involved dialysis. Courageous and tough, she often referred to herself as being a “dialysis warrior”, feeling it was her duty to fight as hard as she could against the disease. And, she did! She always had hope, never giving up. Known by the nickname “Copper” for her red hair and freckles, Julia was her own person. She had a unique and “cool” style, loved gardening with unusual plants, was a skilled seamstress, talented photographer, and was very artistic, using natural materials and clay to create a variety of items. She was kind, giving, good to people, and was a wonderful mother and step-mother.

Julia is survived by her children, Isabella, Syrus, and Zayden Karvinen; her mother, Jean M. LaPenta of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Mellody Pollock of Myrtle Beach, SC; her fiance, Kelsey McMaster of Traunik; Kelsey’s children, Isaac and Konner McMaster; and his parents, Lori Violetta and Gary McMaster of Skandia; and his grandmother, Betty Violetta of Gwinn; and several aunts and uncles..

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Skandia on Saturday, September 29, beginning with a service at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Leon Jarvis presiding, followed by a reception concluding at 5:30 pm.

The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family. Condolences may be expressed online at fassbenderfuneralhome.com
