Charles ‘Charlie’ Hintsala

PALMER, AK — Charles Hintsala, “Charlie,” who was born on Aug. 6, 1961, in Ishpeming, Mich., to the late Paul and Beverly (Lyyski) Hintsala, has passed away at the ripe young age of 57. He danced his way into the next world with his beloved wife Colleen by his side, on the evening of Aug. 28, 2018, in Palmer, Alaska.

He officially became an Alaskan in 1979, and was a construction superintendent whose job had sent him all over remote Alaska as well as to the Lower 48. More recently he and his wife became the proud owners of C & C Builders.

He is survived by his daughter, Kortney Redick and her husband Ryan and their two sons; his daughter, Cheyanne Hintsala; stepson, Andrew Provo and his wife Savannah and their two children; and his stepdaughter, Courtney Rae Warner; his brothers, Greg and his wife Beth of Ishpeming, Mich., and Lowell and his wife Lynn of Republic, Mich.; and his sister, Roxanne Sillivent and her husband Bob of Weatherford, Texas. He also leaves behind his faithful golden retriever and work companion, Aurora.

Charlie truly had a passion for everything that the Alaska outdoors had to offer no matter the weather or season. He was a proud member the Sons of the Legion at the American Legion Post 15 and of the Palmer Moose Lodge #793. He is also a past member of Elks Club and American Legions in Palmer, Homer and Kodiak, Alaska.

A Celebration of Life, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at the American Legion Post, 151550 Mystic Circle, Palmer, AK 99645.
