Luella Greet

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI – Luella Greet, age 96, of Marquette Township, entered eternal life Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Norlite Nursing Center.

Luella was born September 3, 1921, in National Mine, a daughter of William J. and Jessie (Brown) Dymond. She was raised in National Mine and attended the local school where she especially enjoyed the math classes. Years later, Luella and husband, Henry, would complete final requirements for their high school diplomas through the adult education program, graduating together from Marquette Senior High School. On June 26, 1943, Luella married Henry Greet and together the couple made their home in Marquette where they raised five children. Luella was a homebody and enjoyed her roles as wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved family life and especially enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother, always interested in the activities of her grandkids. She was known for her mellow personality and keen sense of style, dressing to the nine’s (very smartly) with her attire including hat, gloves, and matching outfit. She was talented at sewing and knitting, and very often purchased dolls for which she knit detailed and beautiful outfits. Her doll collection was extensive and for years she also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. Keeping busy with her family, talents, and passions, Luella was self-sufficient and kept her mind sharp to the very end.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Georgette) Greet of Marquette, Loretta D’Eon of Lynn, MA, Susan (Roger) Moody of Camp Point, IL, and Joseph (Sheri) Greet of St. Louis, MO; her grandchildren, Nikki, Teri, John, Mark, Richard Jr., Stacy, Darin, Michelle, Rachel, and Randall; and many great-grandchildren; her brother, William Dymond of Ishpeming; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; a son, Randy; son-in-law, Donald D’Eon; a granddaughter, Renee; her sisters, Violet Cote, Pearl Balzarini, and Adeline Cote.

Friends may call at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 5, beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Rev. Leon Jarvis will preside. Luella’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary escorts.

Interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.
