Natalie Seelig

HARVEY, MI – Natalie Jean Seelig, age 90, former Harvey resident, entered eternal life Friday, May 11, 2018, at Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.

Natalie was born May 17, 1927 in Clarksville, Michigan, a daughter of Ensley and Mae (Hunter) Stuart. During her early years, she helped raise her late sister, Alice’s children.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for a number of years downstate with the Meijer Corporation and held positions in just about every aspect of the corporation, including stock person, retail sales, accounting, and management. She initially moved to Harvey in 1990.

Very personable and outgoing, Natalie had a smile on her face for everyone she met. She also possessed a good sense of humor, with a little bit of sass now and then. A devout Christian lady, who was always witnessing to others, Natalie put her faith into action by being available to those who were in need of assistance. In her leisure, she enjoyed roaming the back roads of the Upper Peninsula with husband, Harry, looking for moose and bear. Her other interests included bird watching, her favorite bird being the cardinal, and always being ready to watch a movie about the old west. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, when not watching western movies. However, family was all important and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very dear to her.

Natalie was a member of the Harvey Baptist Church, where her special ministry was maintaining the prayer line and praying for the intentions of others.

Natalie is survived by her son, Neil (Marlene) Seelig of Cleveland, OH; her grandchildren, Kayla (Jim) Klein of Gladstone, Kelsey Zeug of Harvey, and Michael Seelig of Marquette; great-grandchildren, Abby and Anna Johnson, Easton and Nora Klein, Kylie, Bree, and Celeste Zeug; her former daughter-in-law, Rebecca Christensen of Harvey; many nieces and nephews; and her close friend of 24 years, and fellow church member, Leafa Miller of Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Seelig; and siblings, Bruce, Malcolm, Esther, Margaret, and Alice Stuart.

Services will be held at the Harvey Baptist Church on Thursday, May 17, at 1:00 pm, on what would have been Natalie’s 91st birthday. Carl Miller will officiate. The family will greet friends at an informal Celebration of Life in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Interment will be made in the Clarksville Cemetery, Clarksville, Michigan.
