Carol Jane (Tourville) Stenberg

PORTLAND, OR/MARQUETTE, MI – 12/25/1930-4/3/2018, Carol “Our little Christmas doll” died peacefully at her home on Mt. Tabor where she spent the majority of her life working and raising her four children and more often caring for her seven grandchildren.

Born Carol Jane Tourville in North Marquette, Michigan to Thomas and Nora Tourville, a true Yooper. She graduated from Graveraet High School in 1949. She married Ronald T. Stenberg on June 13, 1955. They moved to Portland in 1964 and raised their four children, Christine Stanley, Ronald T. Jr., Karen, Eric (Rick). They were committed members of Ascension Catholic church for over 50 years.

Carol was an absolute giver in every sense of the word, had an intense passion for life in every moment she spent on this earth. She taught her children many life lessons because she was devoted to making sure that they were successful in life. She was a patient and caring wife who did all she could for her husband, family and friends. She showed her grandchildren how to be compassionate and gave her time and energy in making sure they had the tools and love to be successful as well. Carol was a passionate gardener who loved to see her yard in full bloom. She also was a committed seamstress and prided herself on being an avid ice skater. She spent countless hours doing volunteer work with St. Vincent de Paul.

She is survived by her Husband Ron; daughters, Christine Stanley (Gene) and Karen Derhalli (Brad Bergstrom); sons, Ronald Jr. (Erica) and Eric (Laurie); sisters, Sharon Ely and Gail Albright; grandchildren, Brian Stanley (Kaitlyn), Kevin Stanley, Alex Derhalli, Sean Stenberg, Allison Stenberg, Noah Stenberg and Emily Stenberg.
