Susan Deiter
MARQUETTE, MI – Susan Deiter, 68, of Harvey, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, February 28, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
She was born November 21, 1949 in Crystal Falls, Michigan, a daughter of the late Swante and Crystal (Groop) Aho and was a graduate of Crystal Falls-Forrest Park High School.
On June 19, 1971 she married Ronald Deiter at First Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2016.
Susan earned an LPN degree from Bay de Noc Community College and an RN degree from NMU. She worked for more than 30 years at UP Health System-Marquette in the Family Birthing and Psych Units.
Her interests included crafting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Susan is survived by her children, Kyle (Heather) Deiter and Jennifer (Thomas) Deiter, both of Marquette; grandchildren, Beau, Lucas, Tre’, Braedyn and Anna; siblings, Gerald (Jeanie) Aho of Crystal Falls, Mike Aho of Arizona, Lois (Robert) Groop, John (Vi) Aho, Joe (Jean) Aho and Steve (Margo) Aho, all of Crystal Falls; and several nieces & nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sister’s-in-law, Nancy Aho and Dulcie Aho.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Warren Geier officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls in the spring.
